Suzuki Delays the Launch of New 2011 Swift Model

Suzuki Motors Corp has delayed the launch of new 2011 Swift model in the US market. The company has been planning to launch the model first in the US and later in other global markets. The car was already planned to go on sale in Europe and Japan later this year but as the price of dollar-yen fluctuates, the company has deferred its plans for the US market.

Apart from rising yen, industry experts attribute the delay to be also related to the new Suzuki – VW alliance where both the companies are competing in the same segment in America. Thus, both of them want to chalk out synergies between the two companies and have a global product strategy before venturing into the US market with new models.

Suzuki has also cut down on its marketing budgets in the US which is also yet another reason for deferring its plans. The car is now expected to be introduced later in 2011 or even after the summer. Click here to read more…

Maruti rolls out Swift One Million Edition

Maruti rolls out Swift One Million Edition

Maruti-Suzuki has launched a limited edition model of its best selling Swift hatchback in India. The ‘Swift One Million Edition’ commemorates Maruti’s feat of selling one million cars in India (achieved in March 2010).

What this means is that the new 2011 Swift we were hoping to get by 2010 end will now make its way to India only by mid-2011. That’s the art of prolonging the life of an ageing car model, which auto makers in India have mastered over the years.

The Swift One Million Edition features exterior and interior cosmetic enhancements like body graphics and decals, leather upholstery, integrated stereo with USB and new floor mats. The special edition will be available only in ‘Goldsmith Black’ body colour. Click here to read more…
